Huawei's 5G security recommendations complement those of EU, debate hears

HUAWEI HOLDS 10TH EDITION OF ITS BRUSSELS DIGITALL LUNCH DEBATE ON THE EU 5G TOOLBOX 

(BRUSSELS, 30 January 2020) Following the publication of the European Commission’s Communication on Secure 5G Deployment in the EU, Huawei today held the 10th edition of its DigitALL lunch debate series in Brussels. The event, at the Huawei EU Brussels Cybersecurity and Transparency Centre, focused on Huawei’s facts-based approach towards 5G Cybersecurity and the complementarity of Huawei’s work with the requirements of the EU’s 5G toolbox.

“Huawei welcomes that the EU has added clarity to the process. Now we can jointly plan ahead to make sure 5G deployment in Europe will happen according to the highest Cybersecurity standards,” said Sophie Batas, Huawei Director for Cybersecurity and Data Privacy.

Tamara Tafra, Counsellor for Cyber Issues at the Permanent Representation of Croatia to the EU, noted that “2020 is an important year for rolling out 5G in the EU and the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union fully supports this objective”.

“Last December, Huawei published its own 15 recommendations on 5G Cybersecurity. They complement the EU’s toolbox perfectly,” added Koen Claesen, Huawei Senior Cybersecurity Advisor.
