Since its launch in 2016, the Huawei Academia Salon has brought together leading academics from outside the normal Brussels ‘bubble’, to discuss technological innovation with EU policymakers and industry representatives.
The focus of the event this year was ‘Delivering European Leadership in AI’. Participants looked at the building blocks that need to be in place to ensure we can maximise the huge potential AI offers and how to best take advantage of Europe’s world-class research facilities and highly-skilled vertical markets.
Sessions at the conference discussed:
- New ideas for AI from the experts
- How to harness the true power of data - ensuring the building blocks are in place
- Getting from lab to market - joining forces to deliver AI’s potential right across all vertical markets
SEEDS FOR THE FUTURE STUDENTS VISIT BRUSSELS
40 students from all over Europe, who participated in Huawei’s ICT training programme, Seeds for the Future, visited the EU institutions the day before the Academia Salon, on 21 November.
After a meeting at the European Commission, MEPs played host to the students, whose study included a two-week trip to Huawei headquarters and research facilities in China. Huawei Senior Vice-President Ms Chen Lifang addressed the gathering at the Parliament. The students presented a report on improving mobility, influenced by their Chinese experience.
