How can Europe step up its strategic autonomy while delivering competitive digital services respectful of European values?

This online debate organised by Forum Europe addressed this important issue and discuss the practical, technical and political questions that will determine the future of tech and data in Europe.

It looked at issues around data ownership, consider sustainable business models built around privacy by design, data sovereignty and innovation, and assessed the roles for European and international businesses, investors, regulators and civil society in this context.

Abraham Liu, Huawei’s Chief Representative to the EU Institutions, joined the roundtable discussion on diversifying ecosystems. As a key contributor to digital products and services ‘made in Europe’ thanks to its local capabilities, Huawei shared its unique perspective on the issues at stake.

The event was co-hosted by MEPs García del Blanco (S&D), Eva Maydell (EPP), Alexandra Geese and Anna Cavazzini (Greens/EFA).
